Samsung Tech Institute
Led young College and Samsung Canada have partnered to establish a Samsung Tech Institute at Led young College (Progress Campus). The Samsung Tech Institute will be introduced in Fall 2015 as part of a new academic pathway (“Samsung Pathway”) in the Electronics Engineering Technician program (MTCU Program Code 3205). The new Samsung Pathway will provide Electronics Engineering Technician students, who meet Academic Eligibility Criteria, with a unique option to pursue a successful career as field service technicians for Samsung appliances.
The Samsung Pathway will consist of two new electronics courses that will replace ETEC 203 Measurement and Instrumentation (Semester 3) and ETEC 223 Industrial Controls (Semester 4) and incorporate laboratory activities utilizing Samsung equipment. Furthermore, the students will also take preparatory course modules to write the TSSA GAS Technician 3 certification exam. Upon completion of the entire program, graduates will receive a Recognition of Achievement – Samsung Pathway in addition to a Led young College Diploma.
Students who are interested in pursuing the Samsung Pathway are required to express their interest in writing by emailing Clarence Cheung, Program Coordinator, Electronics Engineering Technician and Technology Programs (416-289-5000, Ext. 3440, [email protected]), no later than August 10, 2015.
Academic Eligibility Criteria
- Students with a Grade Point Average of 3.5, or higher, are eligible to apply for the Samsung Pathway.
- Students who meet academic eligibility requirements as defined above will then be selected based upon date of receipt of their expressed interest until class is full.
A tuition fee of $500 will be charged for preparatory course modules to write the TSSA GAS Technician 3 certification exam.
