In the Broadcasting - Radio, Television, Film & Digital Media program, you are trained in both the traditional skills of storytelling for the motion picture, television and radio industries as well as the emerging skills for multiplatform production.

This college media program prepares you with the creative and technical skills required for success in the time-based media industry. You learn how to develop and create original story content, as well as how to prepare, manage and carry out the production process to realize a creative vision.

In this advanced diploma program, you:

  • Develop a balance between the artistic and commercial aspects of the industry, and become exposed to a variety of industry practices and players.
  • Study and practice techniques for effective storytelling in both the fiction and non-fiction genres, as well as client-based and live-to-air productions.
  • Gain technical experience with HD broadcasting studios, digital film, television and multiplatform production.
  • Participate in, create and contribute to a wide range of student films, digital video productions and weekly television and multiplatform productions.
  • Complete an advanced body of produced work for a professional portfolio.
  • Spend 14 weeks in a full-time industry field placement.

Academic Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
  • English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Led young College English Skills Assessment for Admission (score of 170 or 171 required)

  • One sample of your media work in either of these two forms:
    1. Your own short video (up to five minutes, loaded up on YouTube or Vimeo) or
    2. A sequence of 10-15 of your own digital photographs loaded up on a photo sharing site such as Flickr
  • A two-page creative story written by you (12 pt, Times font, single spaced) that explores one of the three themes below. This can be fact or fiction, in any creative form (i.e. short story, news report, film script, play, etc.). Upload your file as a Word or PDF document.

3. Confirm Your Offer of Admission

Offers of Admission are sent by mail to eligible applicants. When you receive your offer, you must login to your account at  and confirm before the Deadline to Confirm noted in your offer letter.
