Description: Reading, summarizing, analyzing and reflecting are strategies important to learning. Students in this course focus on developing these skills. Students will read articles, biographies and books that are relevant to the field of disability. Readings will be related to Social Role Valorization theory, the Social Model of disability, the typical life experiences of people with disabilities, current events regarding people with disabilities and their families, stories of inclusion, community development and more. Readings will be chosen from the course bibliography.Pre-requisites: DSWP 112 Valued Social Roles. Course Length: 30 hours, 2 hours per week for 15 weeks. Minimum Grade Requirement :C
