This course covers the fundamentals of project planning and provides students with skills and competencies related to project design and proposal writing. Through exposure to project management expertise among practitioners, students learn the important connections between theory, practice and policy, situating Canada’s unique roles and practices in the larger international development context in which projects in specific, priority sectors are initiated, funded, implemented, monitored and evaluated by various stakeholders. Participatory approaches for development will be emphasized in this introductory preparation course for students to become development professionals.
