||This course will assist the RPN and the internationally-educated nurse to build on previous knowledge and issues relating to professional education and practice gained in his/her diploma practical nursing program and diploma program from out-of-country. Students will be introduced to the historical method to examine the evolution of professional nursing in Canada. The student will examine the evolution of nursing knowledge against the background of Canada socio-cultural, political and economic development over the past 150 years. Students will have an opportunity to discuss nursing leadership and the impact of technology on nursing knowledge and practice. Students will also have an opportunity to discern themes and patterns in the areas of service and education that have contributed to the status of the profession today.
