Description: Learning about our past enables us to prepare a better future. The history of people who have Intellectual Disabilities in Ontario is very instructive. You will analyze the evolution of supports and services with particular attention paid to the use of imagery and role perceptions. You will also analyze images during particular time periods and examine legal, political, economic and moral factors that have impacted the field of disability. The 'tremendous change' period of the 1970s and 1980s will be examined as an example of the rapid evolution of supports and services.Pre-requisite: DSWP112 Valued Social Roles; Co-requisite: DSWP126 Field Observation. Course Length: 45 hours, 3 hours per week for 15 weeks. Minimum Grade Requirement : C
