Ethics in Business
|Lecture hours per week||3|
|Lab hours per week|
|Description:||This course introduces students to the ethical considerations and expectations in today’s environment. The text examines various Western moral frameworks and develops a model for ethical decision-making. Emerging areas in such as feminist ethics and previously omitted areas such as Islamic and Chinese ethics will also be covered. Students apply these frameworks and the decision-making model to ethical dilemmas and decisions with which today’s business managers are faced. In this way students have the opportunity to enhance both their awareness of ethical issues as well as their moral reasoning skills.
Classes will combine presentation of the various concepts in the course along with a variety of ethical situations for students to examine. Students will be asked to resolve these ethical dilemmas based on their own ethical perspectives. This will require students to analyze, question, and perhaps alter their ethical approaches and priorities as the course progresses.
