This is the third course in the CIFP’s Certified Financial Planner™ program. The course provides a detailed look at how individuals plan for retirement, make financial decisions related to retirement and use their financial assets during retirement. Topics include an introduction to retirement planning and annuities, government sponsored retirement income programs, employer-sponsored pension plans, deferred profit sharing plans, RRSPs, RRIFs, LIF, LIRIFs, retirement investment planning, taxation during retirement, post-retirement planning, retirement savings plans and retirement decisions, a retirement plan case study and a critical review of Canada’s retirement income system. Prerequisite: CEFN-901 or permission of program supervisor. (Includes exam. Course-mandated financial calculator and course material excluded. Course material is available at the bookstore).
