||Building on knowledge and skills developed in semester one, this practical lab course provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical experience while preparing pharmaceutical extemporaneous preparations. Students will work with common compounding formulas, drug stability and drug compatibility reference materials as well as product storage requirements and documentation practices. Practice with ingredient calculations, measurements, preparation techniques and independent checking will assist the student in developing their compounding skills. Utilizing pharmacy software, prescription order entry will continue to be practiced by students with an emphasis on the ‘compounded’ prescription. Students will work both individually and in small group settings.
