Advanced Interviewing and Counselling
|Lecture hours per week|
|Lab hours per week|
The purpose of this course is to draw on experience gained in the field placement to further refine and advance assessment, interviewing and counseling skills. Students will employ a holistic/integrated perspective in their ongoing exploration of challenges and systemic issues in day-to-day social service work. In addition, problem-solving and front-line skills will be practiced and further developed from positions of mindfulness, “beginner’s mind”, and authenticity. A critical reflective approach underpins all concepts in this course, and the student is expected to challenge him/herself to enhancing clinical skills through intellectual humility, contemplation, and a commitment to anti-oppression.
