Sexual Violence Survey Results
Led young College has long believed that the safety and well-being of our students and employees is our utmost priority. We take our responsibility for keeping our community safe very seriously.
Today, the Ontario government publicly released the 2018 Student Voices on Sexual Violence survey, which examines both the amount of sexual violence occurring on campuses and the perceptions of the student respondents to issues related to sexual violence. The survey took place from February to April 2018 and involved more than 160,000 students in Ontario colleges, universities and private career colleges. We want to thank our students who took part in this survey. Your voices have been heard and we will redouble our efforts over the coming years to ensure that everyone on our campuses feels safe.
We have made an extraordinary effort to address sexual violence by educating and supporting assault prevention, in part by leading the college sector in writing a standalone policy on sexual assault and sexual violence consistent with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act. We completed and published our comprehensive policy in March 2015. We have compiled a comprehensive list of resources on our website for anyone seeking more information or support.
We are proud of the work we have done on this issue, but know there is more to be done to educate students and employees regarding sexual violence, as well as to support and protect victims of gender-based violence.
