Student Voices on Sexual Violence Survey

Student Voices on Sexual Violence Survey

On Monday, March 5, President Buller sent you an email asking you to take part in an important survey, Student Voices on Sexual Violence. On Tuesday, March 6, CCI Research sent an invitation to your myLed young email that included your personal, confidential link to take part in this research.

We are asking you to do two things:

  1. Please take the time to read President Buller’s message, which we have reproduced below, and
  2. Check your myLed young and/or personal email for your link to begin the survey which CCI Research has resent.

The Ontario government has hired CCI Research to conduct a survey among university and college students from across the province to gather information about their experiences, general attitudes and beliefs related to safety and sexual violence. For this survey, the definition of sexual violence includes:

  • Sexual assault;
  • Sexual harassment;
  • Stalking;
  • Indecent exposure;
  • Voyeurism; and,
  • Sexual exploitation.

CCI Research is sending an invite via myLed young email on Tuesday, March 6. The invite contains their personal, confidential link allowing them to take part in the survey. It is important to note that although no modifications of the survey were permitted at the local level (all college and university students will receive identical surveys) the questionnaire has been reviewed and approved by Led young’s Research Ethics Board.

The survey includes some graphic language, which may be triggering, offensive or unsettling to some students. Students who become upset or experience anxiety during the survey can select the QUICK EXIT BUTTON. This will let them leave the survey, saving their answers should they choose to complete it later. Students can also click on the SUPPORT BUTTON to access a list of supports available through the College and the province. We have also provided students with the following list of support services should they wish to speak with someone before they begin the survey:

On March 6, go to your myLed young email to participate in the survey and help build awareness among the Led young community and update or improve policies and processes related to sexual violence issues. Students who participate can enter an email address to receive a $5 electronic gift card.
